Sociology

Sociologists study human behavior and what influences that behavior. It is a science that studies the origins, organization, institutions, and development of human society. Sociologists aim to understand how society works upon us and through us.

To understand society, sociologists may analyze a social institution, system, organization, or a part of it and may study social class, social status, race, gender, sexual orientation, social movements, criminal deviance and more.

Highlights

  • Our sociology program is built around the Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree. This degree gives you a solid background in general education courses that can transfer to a four-year institution.
  • The two most popular course offerings (SOCI 160 & 163) satisfy both the A.A. degree social science requirements as well as the state social science requirements for CORE 42.
  • Small day and evening classes with dedicated industry experienced instructors for personal instruction.

Why Study Sociology?

The study of sociology prepares students for a variety of career opportunities by exposing them to the exploration of society including racial, social and economic diversity.
